Baltimore, MD (March 21, 2017) ─ Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) and the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) announced today the plans for the 2017 MIAA Lacrosse Championships as well as the schedule for MIAA Game of the Week online coverage.

Johns Hopkins University’s iconic Homewood Field will host the MIAA Championships in May. The MIAA A Conference Semifinals will be played on Monday, May 22 with games at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The MIAA will have championships decided in the A, B and C Conferences on Thursday, May 25. The tripleheader of action is headlined by the A Conference final at 7:30 pm, while the B Conference (5:15 pm) and C Conference (3:00 pm) title games are scheduled earlier in the day. The MIAA has a well-earned reputation as the toughest league in high school lacrosse. The teams at the top change from year-to-year but the depth of quality teams remains a constant. In fact, the MIAA A Conference has crowned seven different champions in the past seven seasons. The MIAA features intense rivalries as well as players and coaches that are extremely familiar with one another. As a result, upsets in the championships are never much of a surprise.

McDonogh is the most recent A Conference champion, earning an 8-5 win over Boys’ Latin in last year’s title game. The Eagles finished the 2016 season the season with an 18-1 overall record and the consensus No. 1 ranking in the national polls. John Carroll has won consecutive B Conference titles (2015 and 2016) while St. Vincent Pallotti earned its first-ever C Conference championship last year.

The 2017 season will mark the start of a three-year partnership between the MIAA and Corrigan Sports to manage the annual lacrosse championships and present an online MIAA Game of the Week.

“We are thrilled to once again partner with Corrigan Sports to promote MIAA Lacrosse,” commented Lee Dove, MIAA Executive Director. “The team at Corrigan Sports will lend its professionalism to both the championship and weekly presentation of MIAA game action. As well, we are pleased to return to Johns Hopkins for the MIAA Championships where the history and tradition of Homewood Field serves as the perfect setting for the event. Come out and enjoy high school lacrosse at its best!”

“The MIAA is the most competitive high school lacrosse league in the nation,” said Lee Corrigan, president of CSE. “We are truly excited to begin a three-year partnership with the MIAA. A league with great coaches and great players unsurprisingly produces great teams. That high-level play is what attracted CSE to the MIAA and we look forward to presenting that action to lacrosse fans in Maryland.”

CSE is a major force in the lacrosse world as the creators and operators of the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse program, one of the sport’s premier events. The Baltimore area sports marketing and event management firm is also the exclusive event partner of both the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association) and IMLCA (Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Association), operating annual club lacrosse recruiting tournaments on behalf of each organization.

The Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) is an independent organization comprised of 29 private high schools located in and around the Baltimore Metro area. Founded in 1994, MIAA schools have a combined enrollment in excess of 17,000 students. More than 60% of these students participate in at least one of 17 MIAA sanctioned sports. In addition, more than 97% of all graduates from MIAA schools go on to college, including many who enroll in some of our nation’s most prestigious universities.

The Association has a long history of athletic prowess.  It boasts what is widely recognized as the best high school lacrosse league in the world, underscored by the immense impact of its former players, as both players and coaches, on nearly every level of collegiate lacrosse, as well as the professional game.  The MIAA has also sent numerous players on to the NBA, including superstars Carmelo Anthony and Rudy Gay, while many other former MIAA basketball players have excelled at the highest levels of college basketball.  Retired New York Yankees slugger Mark Teixeira and current Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Gavin Floyd are two examples of the mark the MIAA has made on professional baseball.
